Giving more than taking - Motivational Story in English

Friends, once a teacher went out for a walk with a young disciple belonging to a wealthy family. He saw that a pair of old shoes were lying on the way, which probably belonged to a poor labourer working in a nearby field who was now getting ready to go back home after finishing his work. Said, "Guruji, why don't we hide these shoes somewhere and hide behind the bushes; It will be a lot of fun when that labourer gets nervous not finding them here.

The teacher said seriously, "It is not right to make such lewd jokes with a poor person. Why don't we put some coins in these shoes and hide and see what effect it has on the labourer!!" The disciple did the same and both hid in the nearby bushes.

The labourer soon finished his work and came to the place of shoes. As soon as he put one foot in the shoe, he realised something hard, he quickly took the shoes in his hand and saw that some coins were lying inside, he was very surprised and taking those coins in his hand he turned them very carefully. Then he started looking here and there, seeing no one far and wide, he put coins in his pocket.

Now he picked up the second shoe, coins were lying in it too… The labourer became emotional, tears came to his eyes, he looked up with folded hands and said – “Oh my God, lakhs and lakhs of that unknown helper for this help received on time. Thank you, because of his help and kindness, today my sick wife will get food and hungry children will get bread."

Hearing the words of the worker, the disciple's eyes filled with tears. The teacher said to the disciple - "Did you get less happiness by putting a coin in the shoe than your joke?" The disciple said, "I will not forget the lesson you taught me today for the rest of my life. Today I understand the meaning of words that I never understood before. It is far more enjoyable to give than to receive. The joy of giving is limitless!
